Before I got into it, I really expected every character to perform a saving throw before each plot development. (I still pretend they do!)
FYI I’m starting a game of D&D. I’m a gnome druid named Feilo D’oh. I have a friend that is a badger. I basically want to be like David the Gnome if at all possible.

That’s a good idea, I would adopt that practise if there were more than one episode left in the season.
